When Reagan was born, Cora, the disapproving grandmother, took her the first chance she got. She knew Regina having a child with the stable boy could potentially ruin any chance of her being a royal, and so before that could happen, she pronounced her dead. . . and for the rest of her life, she never faltered on her lie that the child died at birth.
The truth? Well, it’s quite complicated. Knowing that Regina was pregnant months prior, she had to get something in line. She had to make a plan. And after many efforts, she did, managing to conjure up a portal to an opposing realm, which she took the newborn through the earliest she could. There was no way she could risk her growing up and somehow finding her birth mother. That, for Cora, simply wasn’t an option. It just couldn’t be.
Thus, once tumbling through, they were introduced to Auradon: a place where, in another life, was created by Belle and her Beast. A place that was safe from evil, and a place where the child could grow up surrounded with good influence.
Cora left her in the hands of some villagers, along with a photograph of Daniel, her birth name, the blanket she was wrapped in at birth and a warning— a warning that stated that if she were ever to return to her homeland, it would come with several consequences. . . and if they didn’t keep the girl safe, they’d suffer the consequences, too.
Alarmed and confused, the villagers soon notified Queen Belle and King Beast of the abandoned baby; Auradon for the most part was a happy realm, and things like ( this ) were never about. That’s why the situation was taken so seriously, and after coming to a joint agreement, Reagan was later passed over to the Fairy Godmother where she would be closely protected, raised and taught one on one about their magical land.
And that’s exactly how things played out.
Growing up, the Fairy Godmother worshiped the ground that the little girl walked on. She did everything for her, treating her as her very own, but never keeping her truth a secret. She wanted her to know that she was special, or ‘a gift’, as she’d always say.
She later attended Auradon Prep, given that her ‘mother’ was headmistress, where she would be among the children of the most well-known heroes. And given those circumstances, she also grew to be just like them.
However, just because she held a lot of good qualities, didn’t mean that she necessarily belonged there, either. From a young age, Reagan was more than aware of her differences compared to other children. She had to ( learn ) to be good, rather than it coming naturally. And for the most part? She made a ton of mistakes. She knew that she was an outsider, she just. . . couldn’t understand why. Not until her sixteenth birthday, anyway.
Whilst blowing out her candles in the midst of a crowd unlike herself, Reagan wished to belong. She wished for people like herself, and to be loved her who she was, rather than what she was taught to be.
That night? Her wish somewhat came true.
In a puff of smoke appeared a sealed envelope on her bedside table. The sender went unknown, but given that it was addressed to herself, she didn’t hesitate on opening it. The contents? Well, they were quite clear. It stated that Cora, her grandmother, had recently passed, and if she wanted to be reunited with her ( real ) mother, the coast was now clear to do so.
Rushing out of her room, Reagan took the note to the Fairy Godmother, and with that, received disapproval. Despite knowing she was from another realm, she never knew the whole story, especially not of the threats her grandmother cast upon town upon her arrival. It was a risk nobody was willing to take.
Apart from Reagan, of course.
Gazing at her picture of Daniel day in, day out, everything soon began making sense— but as it did, she only became more curious. She knew somebody named ‘Cora’ had passed her off at birth, but what about everything else? Was this her mother’s idea? Did her parents want her? Did they even know? God, she just needed answers, and she knew that sticking around in Auradon wasn’t going to get her those. So, after mustering up a plan for a few weeks, she finally let it play out.
Once gathering everything she needed, she used her one free night alone to escape. The note came with steps to create a portal, which she followed closely, conjuring up the swirling, bright lights in the middle of her dorm and through them she went. No hesitation, no pausing, she just jumped.
The opening must’ve caused quite the disturbance in Storybrooke, too, because by the time she had passed through and stepped out of it, she was met with a pretty hefty crowd.
❛ 𝐈, 𝐮𝐡... 𝐈’𝐦— ❜ was all the young girl could string together at this point, but before she even had a chance to blink once more, somebody stepped forward from the midst of the group. Someone, who for the most part, looked an awful lot like herself, only a few decades older. ❛ 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐧? ❜ Tumbled from the crimson lips that practically mirrored her own, which of course prompted an immediate response. ❛ 𝐌𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫? ❜ She questioned, feeling as though she were in a trance. Was that. . . really her? Her mom? She was even more beautiful than Evie told her she would be.
At this point, there were so many questions rattling around in her head, but they’d have to be saved for later because right then she was being swept up in purple smoke and transported into the Mayor’s home for questioning.
After things had calmed down and Regina and the girl talked, Reagan showed her the things she was given: her little blanket and the old photograph of her father, whom she had yet to found out was deceased. These confirmed a lot, and Regina later explained herself, too. Turns out, she’d been asking her magic mirror what her daughter would’ve looked like for decades, and ( now ) she was sitting right beside her. That’s how she recognized her right away, and knew of the name she’d given her already. Listening to her mother talk of those things was amazing.
The hugs and kisses that day were never ending, but at least she could say, from that day and since, things never felt so much like home.

Reagan, as we know, is the daughter of Regina and Daniel, but despite that, she grew up in an opposing realm called ‘Auradon’. In the real world, Reagan should currently be far older than her present age of sixteen years— but, given her circumstances, that definitely isn’t the case.
⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀
In Auradon, time moves a lot slower than it does in Storybrooke. Thus, each year that passed by as Reagan grew up was an equivalent to two years and eight months in the real world, which is why she is much younger than you’d first imagine.
⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀
And while things could stay ( that ) simple, there’s also another twist. Before escaping through her conjured up portal, Reagan made sure to cast a protection spell on herself. She knew how to, given that she was taught these basic spells from a young age, but little did she know that something so small could equal to something a lot more complicated. Reagan is now protected by Audradon’s magic, which means that when she entered Storybrooke, it kept her ageing ( and still does ) at a much slower pace.

FYI: I figured out an accurate timeline based off of Regina and Henry’s ages through the seasons— that, and a lot of other information I found on Google. I did the math myself and so if there are any questions regarding this subject, feel free to ask.

Reagan was born in the Enchanted Forest, but was taken to Auradon by her grandmother whilst she was a baby, meaning she aged around the heroes and heroines of that realm.
Much like Evie, Reagan is the daughter of the Evil Queen. This makes her the girls double from an alternate universe and explains their physical similarities, ( see more in headcanon’s. )
Whilst residing in Auradon, Reagan was raised by the Fairy Godmother, and viewed Jane as her sister since they grew up alongside each other. She also had close ties with Ben, the son of Queen Belle and King Beast.
Despite leaving through a portal to Storybrooke on her sixteenth birthday, her relationships with everyone there remains and from time to time, she returns for temporary visits— only given that her real mother allows it.

Once entering the real world, it wasn’t long before Reagan used her powers for the first time, which prompted those in Mystic Falls to find out. Hope’s spell on the globe meant that everytime a powerful being dabbled in magic, their location would light up and a recruiter would be sent their way to investigate. While Storybrooke has it’s own school, the teachers there received their degree from Regina’s curse, so once the recruiter approached Reagan’s mother and explained what Salvatore School had to offer, she was open to travelling for a tour of the grounds— after all, she wanted the best education for her daughter possible, with well educated teachers.
Even though it was possible for Regina to teach the girl herself, she was also aware of the darkness that ran within their family, and wanted to save the possibility of that potentially rubbing off on her. Thus, once seeing it all for themselves, Regina agreed to let Reagan join under one condition. . . she wasn’t allowed to tell anyone the truth about her past, and had to keep the fairytales of Storybrooke a secret.

1. Being introduced to the ‘real world’ wasn’t easy, especially without her old friends to hold her hand and support her. This is when she’d use Evie’s mirror to guide her way— it was oddly comforting to think of how her double was able to start over successfully, just as she was.
2. However, without all of the rules lingering over her head, Reagan began breaking out of her shell very quickly. For the first time in her life, she felt like she could be entirely herself. Using her powers included. Regina began to give her lessons just as she did with Emma, however that didn’t last long because they were approached by a Salvatore School recruiter shortly after.
3. Storybrooke has its own stables, and when touring the grounds, Reagan became drawn to them unlike anything before. She had a natural approach with the horses and it was one of the first things her and Regina bonded over— her mother liked to think it was the Daniel in her that prompted this.
4. Upon her arrival, Henry was slightly younger, and the comforting touch was something Reagan lacked in. This caused them to bump heads regularly, however as he grew, they realized they were more alike than they initially thought.
5. Speaking of which, a part of Reagan loathed her brother for a while, because she envied the relationship he had with their mother. While she was in another realm, he was living comfortably under Regina’s care and he didn’t always seem to appreciate it. This is when she’d play pranks on him and cause havoc in their home.
